On WoW and Fashion

Image
On August 27  Blizzard is launching their WoW re-boot: WoW Classic.  15 years ago, as our steadfast and loyal readership will remember, I just wouldn’t shut up about WoW, offering almost daily updates on the most mundane aspects of my (crappy) fire mage. And I shall be re-joining the masses this August, this time as a Human Paladin.  I have dipped my toe in and out of WoW, over the course of its evolution, to it’s current iteration. Though I have not partook in the past 3-ish expansions. WoW has changed a lot it's so fast paced and it’s almost impossible to die, but I will lay out my grumbles on what it has become at another point . One of my favourite things in WoW was “Transmog”, which initially was collecting pieces of armour or weapons and by taking it to a dude in-game, he could make one look like the other. Previously this worked by having to own the armour you wanted to Transmog with, resulting in bags and banks full of low level armour. Nowadays, however ...

Yeah... National Dex

Image
The community is up in arms, pitchforks have been raised, picket boards have been lovingly crafted with catchy slogans for social media. The mob is revolting. What's This Noise Then? There is no National Dex (terms in bold appear in the glossary at the end) in the upcoming  Pokémon game, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield , it's not #brexit, its #dexit. There is a grumbling controversy fluttering in the forums and the social medias as people are furious that a thing has been 'taken' away from them because not all of the currently available Pokémon will be catchable or transferable in the upcoming games for the first time in the mainline series of the games since last year's Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let's Go Eevee  2002's Pokémon Sapphire and Pokémon Ruby . And as semi-professional contrarians, we straddle that high horse and RP a bit of devils advocate. Is taking the  National Dex away a bad thing? As of the end of Generation ...

Back to Life, Back to Neptunia

Image
Soul II Soul aside, and hereby referencing my age, making the following post just that touch more creepy... After a solid few weeks of following the Capcom hype-train and completing RE2:Remake and DMCV, I am maintaining a transport metaphor and like a midwestern early 20th century hobo I'm grabbing my belongings in a handkerchief suspended in a stick over my shoulder and jumpin’ carts, scuttling back over to the Nep-train with a jug of moonshine. I needed a change of pace, too much panicking, getting bitten and quick action Super Sexy Stylin’ button mashing. I found myself pining for turn-based JRPG,  where not exactly the most thrill chasing of genres, ultimately just some menus which make flashy wooshes and sound effects interspersed with some plot advancing text. I miss the grandeur of Final Fantasy VII, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, and um… More recently… um? I dunno, I guess that Miitopia one? And maybe Pokemon?  Most turn-based JRPGs nowadays are linked to...

The Claire Redfield from Resident Evil 2 Nude Cheat

Image
Surprisingly, we've managed to find a little Easter egg from Capcom in their latest survival horror game Resident Evil 2 . That's right sports fans, you can unlock a nude(ish) Claire. Here's how, accompanied by some artists reconstructions because we'll be damned if we can take screenshots. Them shits is too professional.  As Claire A scenario, ensure you keep on the original costume on, do not change to Noir/Eliza etc. Once you reach the police station, ensure you run into to the Toilets in the East Wing when attempting to get the notebook and press A by the toilet. After collecting the notebook proceed through the game to the boiler room WITHOUT TAKING DAMAGE, we have not tried this with reloading saves, you will see the boarded up boiler room door, press A, 50 times (call back to the Rebecca Photo in RE2 on PS1) you will hear a faint dog bark. Return to the Weapon locker room without using any weapons. Put in locker code 105 and examine the locker. The sc...

Soulcalibur VI: The art of character creation

Image
How spiffy When one discusses the more recent entries in the soulcalibur series, one cannot skip over the aesthetic that has become the foundation at the core of this series' progression. The fundamentals of the personae are divided between the character models and the weapon styles. The weapon styles themselves could arguably be considered the actual protagonists in the soulcalibur enterprise, whereby it is irrelevant on your character choice, as through the medium of the character creator all styles may be applied to any moving portraiture. That being said that the mainstays of the series are so iconic and Namco are aware of this, so much so that they remain immediately selectable as pillars of the games.   However it is within the character creator that the sheer breadth of the title, and the archetypal aesthetic becomes so apparent. Interacting with the character creator acquaints and exposes the user to the underbelly of the fabrication and production of ...

This is what Datamining was made for!

Image
The internet is a swamp of too-much-information, littered with ads and scams. But every so often you find a little gem, a proverbial "Diamond in the rough" And you guys know you can count on us at thatguys.co.uk, to bring you the news that you care about, one month after it surfaces! People datamine the Pokémon games, mostly to see hidden stuff like characters or items, but some total legends have decided to datamine the hell out of Jynx and have researched and theorised about Jynx's Boob Physics. Credits to: JynxClub Twitter Boob Physics ? Yeah " boob physics ", since the average gaming age is going down many of you 'gamerZ' wont remember the heady days of the mid naughties where "Boob Physics" was gratuitously thrown around buzzword in the Blogosphere. The technology for rounder (sic.) character models was finally starting to reach the the monitors and TV screens at home, the days of triangular pointy Lara Croft boobs, were bec...

MegaNeptunia Series vs Overload-dimension: Part 2

Image
Yo! Following on from my  other post  about how there are far too many Neptune Series games in my life. Today we have:  Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls This one exists to dominate my mobile gaming gaming urges, on the Vita . Yup while everyone is playing with  their Switch's on their commutes. I'm happy to just sit down in a train full of passengers, pull it out and start playing with it... ...Anyways, yeah this one is a weird one and it took me a while a while to get my head around its premise... Right so you are aware that (more or less) the goddesses are anthropomorphised (albeit as Anime girls) representations of the console wars: Left to Right: Blanc (Nintendo), Neptune (Sega), Vert (Xbox), Noire (Sony) In superdimension they have also included a crossover with the "Sega Hard Girls" which, to make things more confusing, are representations of all Sega Hardware (geddit? Hardware/Hardgirls) Left to Right: Dreamcast, Satur...

MegaNeptunia Series vs Overload-dimension: Part 1

Image
We have previously discussed that the world needs more Neptunia! But right now I am inundated with megadimensions, hyperdimensions and the like… I am concurrently playing 3 different Neptunia genre games, the first of which: Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart Neptunia spin off, rather contentiously replacing Nep as the protagonist and putting the Fan favourite Tsundere, Noire as the main attraction. Not a conventional Nep RPG game, this one has stepped into the foray as a Tactical turn-based strategy RPG, And redesigning all the characters as Chibi versions of themselves. And Just for your reference is a little before and after: Noire normal model: posing and shooting from Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 posing from the reloaded first dungeon, featuring pink ribbons in her hair with a Giant Dogoo in the background.  Noire Chibi model: seen performing special Move on Neptune here, beautiful metaphor for Noire smashing in here as the "Protagoni...

One Piece Pirate Warriors 3: A game I have played

Image
So I jumped straight in at number 3 in this series, mainly because that is all Steam has, missing out on 1 and 2, though I doubt i have missed any complex plot devices. This game is a re-skinned version of dynasty warriors, with one piece characters. and is a fine example of the sum of the parts being greater than the whole. Its really great to play the faithfully recreated One Piece characters in little skirmishes which loosely follows the plot of the extremely long running anime. And on top of that some fun RPG elements to level up and fiddle with the stats of the characters, and the perverse pleasure of the free mode allowing you to use any characters in any of the any of the story events. There is a nice rating system at the end to which I am ever so proud to have spelled out the word "Ass" Also: Boobies!! Love and what more do you need from a game? Richie X

Are Mobile Games Any Good Yet? Miitomo Edition

Image
Not got enough Nintendo accounts? In between your Nintendo.com account, Pokemon Global Link account, Nintendo ID, Nintendo Online Store account and MiiVerse accounts, Nintendo has recently launched MyNintendo the new-all you need account for worse news and updates that independent Nintendo fan sites and the first vehicle that uses the MyNintendo account is mobile 'app' Miitomo .  Ninty has been trialling gentle-disgustingly fierce micro-transactions from free to play games like Pokemon Shuffle and Pokemon Rumble World through to not-ware Nintendo Badge Arcade and presumably a lucrative line in customising your handheld with 3DS themes.   Miitomo , like Nintendo Badge Arcade , takes pay-to-not-really-play to the next level. What is Miitomo ? It's a hyper scummy new social network that uses Miis. The app is so blatantly aimed at capturing the social network hype, for example, you can earn large amounts of one of the three new MyNintendo currencies just by linking...
